The London Festival of Railway Modelling. Alexandra Palace. March 29/30 2008
Please note: Despite several years of successful presence at this show, G1MRA has been forced to withdraw from exhibiting at this year's event. G1MRA would like to apologise to all those members and visitors who look forward to seeing G1 trains in action at this show. The sponsors Warners and the organisers the Model Railway Club are making real efforts to meet our exhibition needs for 2009.

150th ANNIVERSARY OF THE INVERNESS & NAIRN RAILWAY - EXHIBITION On November 5th 1855, the very first section of railway line in the Highlands was opened to the public and ran from Inverness to Nairn. It was named The Inverness & Nairn Railway. The line was extended in later years and became part of the main line east to Aberdeen and south to Perth / Edinburgh, Glasgow and London. It merged, to form part of The Highland Railway in 1865. This event saw the beginning of a revolution in travel to and from the Highlands, which was to influence profoundly the development and prosperity of Nairn, resulting in its change from a small fishing and farming community to a leading and fashionable seaside resort. Thus the year 2005 will mark the 150th anniversary of The Inverness & Nairn Railway.

A special exhibition will be held in Nairn Viewfield Museum, showing the history of the Highland Railway and its role in the development of Nairn as a sea-side resort. The exhibition will feature the Kennedy Highland Railway G1 models of locomotives and rolling stock and HR artefacts, and will run from Jul 9th to September 3rd 2005.
