Diamond Jubilee show at the Fosse 9-10 June 2007

The programme of talks to be given in the lecture room at the Fosse show has now been agreed as follows:-

Saturday 9 June
Morning
Dick Moger – A train of thought revisited
Bob Gamble – Boiler testing – the latest regulations
Afternoon
Geoff Calver – lining out locos
Simon Dunkley – Finescale modelling in Gauge 1

Sunday 10 June
Morning
Steve Foster – Diesel electric propulsion
Malcolm High – Laser cutting as an aid to modelling in Gauge 1
Afternoon
John Barrett – To be announced
Bekonscot Model Village – Modelling buildings for outside use in 2007

Precise times of these talks will be available at the Fosse when you arrive.

Throughout the weekend the G1MRA table will be selling Diamond Jubilee clothing, plates and mugs, umbrellas, teddy bears and smaller items. The usual range of books and CDRoms will be augmented by two new publications, the Diamond Jubilee photo album and the next book in the series “Modelling in Gauge 1” about Freight Stock. If that is not enough many of our traders will have tables displaying their wares, and the bring and buy table will have lots of bargains, both new and second-hand. The raffle table will have as its main prize the special headboard we have commissioned to be attached to the loco pulling our dining train on the 15 June.

As there will be five layouts - including a vintage one - available for running, we hope as many of you as possible will bring a loco to run. For steam a central boiler certificate check point will be established, from which you obtain your “permission to run” on any or all of the four steam layouts. All running slots will be allocated on a first come first served basis. Please remember that those erecting the layouts have gone to a lot of trouble to deliver them and put them up for your use, so please bring lots of locos to fill the many slots available over two days. Association rakes of coaches and trucks will be provided for general use.

A lot of effort has been put in to provide members with a full and varied programme at the Fosse over the two days. A two day ticket bought in advance only costs £8 – a bargain I hope you will agree for this very special birthday. So please send me your applications to arrive before the closing date of 12 May 2007.

This event is for G1MRA members, their guests and invited model societies only. If you are not currently a G1MRA member and would like to attend, membership joining details may be found here Membership.
